Intellectual property rights play a key role in strengthening a country's economy and providing an incentive to create and innovate. That’s why the European Union in Kosovo in collaboration with IBF, wanted to create an awareness campaign informing artists, businesses, and the general public on how to protect their intellectual work.
How do you explain abstract legal terms such as copyright and trademark in the simplest way? We put our visual learning hats on and dived deep into the project.
Through engaging visual elements and metaphors, our main goal from the very start was to create visual examples that the Kosovar society relates to.
To synthesize them in the simplest form, we went with minimal illustrations of the common made-in-Kosovo products, such as cleaning products for the Trademark episode.
We created a fictive cleaning product named "xixë" (meaning shining in Albanian). This approach helped us two-fold.
First, we explained all aspects of Trademark through this local product. Second, the logo-symbol "xixë" allowed us to represent Kosovo and the EU by integrating stars in the symbol.
